Our group mainly works in the general area of materials chemistry including the most promising areas of nanomaterials and soft materials. Our work in the area of synthesis of monodisperse metal nanoparticles and their assemblies and our efforts in understanding the mechanism of achieving monodispersity in metal nanoparticles is appreciated world over.We were the first group in the world to show the utility of a class multifunctional biosurfacnt/glyolipids/bolaamphiphilic molecules called sophorolipids a in the synthesis of nanoparticles. We have then extended these concepts for the synthesis of nanoparticles by continuous flow methods.Our endeavors towards the preparation of polymer-nanoscaffolds for enhanced cell growth and tissue engineering has generated lot of interest both from academic and industrial communities.
