The Eleventh Edition of the Bengaluru India Nano is scheduled during 2-4 March 2020 at Hotel The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru. As a prelude to this flagship programme, and to inspire a nd educate students in the field of Nano Science and Nanotechnology events labeled Nano Jathas were conceptualized by the Vision Group on Sci ence and Technology, Government of Karnataka under the mentorship of Bharat Ratna Prof. C N R Rao, FRS, Linus Pauling Research Professor and Honorary President, JNCASR. Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTe PS) was entrusted to organize the Nano Jathas in selected places around the country. Owing to the overwhelming response to similar events organized by Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS), Bengaluru being the coord inator of this event. 2nd semester engineering students, numberi ng about 60, representing six different engineering colleges from in and ar ound Bengaluru, participated in the 14th and culminating event o f these series of shows held at CeNS on 27 February 2020. This show was coo rdinated by Dr. S. Krishna Prasad and Dr. D.S Shankar Rao, scientists at Ce NS under the stewardship of Prof. G.U. Kulkarni, Director-in-Charge. The previous shows in the present series were held at Dharwad, Laxmeshwara, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Pondicherry, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Barmar (Rajasthan), Delhi , Pune, Goa, Gudlavalleru (Vijayawada) and Yelahanka (Bengaluru). The progr amme comprised three talks by scientists, Dr S. Angappane (on Structura l Colours), Dr H.S.S Ramkrishna Matte (on Nanoscience: The New and Big Science of Small) and Dr Ashutosh Kumar Singh (on Elucidation of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology). The talks were followed by a shor t description of Raman spectroscopy, a powerful tool for investigating nano materials, a video on the life and works of Sir C.V. Raman, and a live tabl etop demonstration of the Raman effect. The visiting students were le d through demonstration of the nano kits which have been developed speciall y for the Nano Jathas. These demonstrations were performed by PhD students of CeNS. The program concluded with a quiz on topics including nanoscience and technology, in which the students took part enthusiastically.
