Under V4 (ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ-ವಿಧ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ-ವಿಚಾರ-ವಿನಿಮಯ) program of CeNS, two lecture sessions on liquid crystals (LCs) were presented at Anthony Cla ret School, Jalahalli, Bangalore, on 25 -08-2015. The speaker from CeNS nam ely, C. V. Yelamaggad was received by college vice-principal and other staf f members. He was introduced to 9th and 10th standard pupils (audience) by PRO of the School. In the beginning, the presenter briefly informed about t he activities of CeNS, especially highlighted the point that V4 program is set out to stimulate and nurture basic and applied scientific curiosity amo ng school children. In the first session (11.00 am to 12.15 pm), the studen ts were introduced to basic concepts and phenomena of LCs; at the end, a ti me limited (25 mins.) question-answer session was held. In the subsequent s ession (2.00 pm to 3.30 pm), the students were informed about the existing applications of LCs; besides, polarization of light, double refraction phen omenon and order-mobility of LCs were demonstrated experimentally.
