A lecture followed by demonstrations on the topic liquid crys tals entitled “Liquid crystals: Science and Technology” were presented unde r V4 (ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ-ವಿಧ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ-ವಿಚಾರ-ವಿನಿಮಯ) program of CeNS by C. V. Yelamaggad on 08-09-2015 (Tuesday) at Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya (SJR) Education Soci ety, Primary & High Schoo, Rajajinagar, Bangalore from 1-30 pm to 3-15 pm. Initially, Yelamaggad was welcomed by the Secretary, Principal, and other s taff members of the School. Before the presentation, the speaker explained about the aims and objectives of the V4 program of CeNS. All the teaching s taff appreciated the program. They intended that their School children shou ld visit the Centre to understand how the research activities on nanomateri als and soft matter are being carried. The speaker was introduced to audien ce (9th and 10th standard students). The presentation covered the general p erspective of liquid crystals, their importance and applications, their dis covery, definition and classification. The active participation of the stud ent was quite apparent as many genuine and intelligent questions were asked to the speaker. During the demonstration, some representative students wer e participated. At the end of presentation, many students approached the sp eaker and expressed their willingness to choose research as a career in sci ence.
